The NAD Board of Directors are now seeking committee members to join one of seven committees for the next two years. Interested people can email nad.info@nad.org with which committee they're interested in joining and why, before September 1st.

MELISSA: Hi! I'm Melissa Draganac-Hawk, with the National Association of the Deaf (NAD). The NAD Board of Directors for the 2014-2016 term are now seeking voluntary committee members. There are seven different committees, after I introduce each committee you can read information for each committee on your right. First, Bylaws Committee.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Bylaws Committee — review current bylaws; help prepare recommended bylaw amendments for the 2016 Conference.

MELISSA: Next, the Diversity Strategy Team (DST).

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Diversity Strategy Team — provide recommendations; implement strategy plans and diversity training in all NAD functions.

MELISSA: Next, the Finance Committee.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Finance Committee — provide expertise and support to Treasurer; review reports on a monthly basis; make recommendations on investments to Board.

MELISSA: Next, the Outreach Committee.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Outreach Committee — provide expertise and recommendations in outreach, including communication, marketing, membership drive and fundraising projects.

MELISSA: Next, the VRI Committee.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: VRI Committee — review current VRI position statement; review community concerns; make recommendations to NAD-RID Task Force.

MELISSA: Next, the Youth Strategy Team (YST).

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Youth Strategy Team — provide recommendations in deaf youth activities with the goal of increasing deaf and hard of hearing participation in the NAD.

MELISSA: Finally, the Public Policy Committee has its own sub-groups, you'll see here.

ON-SCREEN TEXT: Public Policy Committee — provide expertise in one of several expert groups within Public Policy Committee: civil rights; education policy; bioethics; media; employment; international; mental health.

If you're interested in joining, you must be able to commit a certain number of hours and be a NAD member. You can email nad.info@nad.org with your interest for which committee you'd like to join and why. Submissions are due before September 1st. Thank you.
