CHRIS: We're here in Portland, Oregon and it's a little bit cold here, wow! I'm actually thrilled to be here because Portland is where the next NAD Board meetings will be between January 15-17.

CHRIS: The purpose of the meeting is to invite the community to bring concerns and issues to us and begin a dialogue and address these concerns and issues. We're thrilled that RID will join us, along with the OAD, whose president is standing next to me.
CHAD: And ORID as well!
CHRIS: Right, and this is Chad Ludwig, OAD President. He'll talk a little bit about the town hall forum that will also happen that weekend. Again, we're excited to be here! The NAD Board meeting will start on Thursday, January 15th and will be held at the Oregon School for the Deaf in Salem, Oregon. On Friday, January 16th, the NAD Board meeting will be held at the Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver, Washington. Finally, on Saturday, January 17th, the NAD Board meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Portland-Airport. That's right, it'll be a busy few days for us but please know that these meetings are public and open for all to join and watch. Come, listen, and ask questions.

CHRIS: Chad, do you want to explain what's happening on Saturday?
CHAD: Sure, so as he mentioned, they'll have three days of board meetings during their visit — but on Saturday night, January 17th, there will be a town hall forum at Portland State University! The forum will be inside the auditorium at the Smith Memorial Student Union. We're excited that ORID will be joining us as well. This forum is for you and the community so that everyone can come together and discuss various issues. We welcome all discussions including but not limited to interpreting quality and challenges, the Oregon Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) program, law enforcement, prisons, schools, hospitals, and more. Please join us and share with us what concerns you have. The NAD will be there to see what's happening, this way the NAD and OAD can support each other on these various important issues that you bring to our attention. I look forward to having you there with us!
